Joe Biden formally announced the important members of the administration’s health team. It includes Indian American doctor Vivek Murthy who will manage the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The President in his briefing from Wilmington, Delaware outlined three key goals for the first 100 days in office with regards to masking, vaccinations and opening schools for children.

He shared that he is confident that the first 100 days will change the course of the disease and change things for the better in America.

He is going to ask for a masking plan where everyone for his first 100 days of his administration will wear masks. This will begin with his sign in order on day one to require to wear masks under the law, like federal buildings, interstate travel on buses, trains and planes.

He will work alongside governors and mayors to do the same in their states and cities. Masks will be required wherever possible. This will go beyond government action.

The new health team will assist in providing at least 100 million COVID-19 vaccine shots in the first 100 days.

They will follow the scientific guidelines to get the vaccine to people most at risk, which would include healthcare professionals, people in long term care and educators. He stressed this plan will be the most efficient mass vaccination executed in the US history.

According to his third goal he will be asking in the first 100 days that it should a national priority to get kids back to school and keep them in school. If Congress makes funding available, needed to protect students, educators, staff, if states and cities put strong public health measures in place that will be followed by everyone.

Then his team will work together to watch that a majority of schools can be kept open by the end of his first 100 days.
